Contact Me

I regularly come across different wood items that lend themselves to being painted on, or I'm provided with an item and commissioned to paint it. Often these are 'one time' items, or discontinued items I may still have a few of, but won't be able to get again once they're gone. And still other items may be regularly available but simply didn't fit in any of the other wood item page categories, and are shown here as more examples of what I do. When a piece is currently available and in stock, a price is shown, for the other items feel free to contact me and inquire as I may be able to find one, or have one made. Towards the bottom of the page there are also a couple of 'miscellaneous' items that, although not wood, didn't fit anywhere else on the site, including a painted ostrich egg, and a denim jacket. Truly almost anything can be painted!

3 Poodles Wood Oval
A commissioned piece featuring 3 Miniature Poodles, painted on a wooden oval measuring approximately 9" wide. I will say that black dogs wearing knitted sweaters are definitely not the easiest subjects to paint! But I'm pleased with how it turned out, as was the client.

These two pieces are tree slices I was asked to paint. They measure about 11" wide.
Tibetan Terrier Wood Slice

Tibetan Terrier commission

Tibetan Terrier Wood Slice Another Tibetan Terrier commission, a tribute to an old dog, with 4 paintings showng this TT at various stages of life.

Beardie Mirror
Left: Wood-framed mirror, measuring 12" x 12" overall, with a 4" square mirror in the centre. This item is a currently avaialble item, and comes in either black stain, dark brown stain as shown, reddish stain, or natural light wood colour. It can be painted a variety of ways.
Painted in this style it is $75
Right: Wooden plate, measuring 8 1/2" in diameter.
Larger sizes (9" and 11 1/2" diameter) are also available. It can be painted as shown, with a headstudy against the wood stained background with some small accents at the sides, or a more elaborate design can be done. Price for this size and style is $95. Larger sizes, more elaborate designs, or more than one dog are extra.

This particular piece features a portrait of the famous English Beardie "Cassie", Ch.Potterdale Classic at Moonhill, and was ordered as a gift for her owner.

Clumber Spaniel Yo Yos
Beardie Yo Yo
These are hardwood yo yos. The yo yos at left are wood stained, with a Clumber Spaniel in a scene painted on one side. The yo yo at right has been painted blue with coloured flecks, and features a Bearded Collie in a scene painted on one side. These are still regularly available, and sell for $45.

A variety of clock styles
Round Clock
Round Clock
Tibetan Terrier Round Clocks
Round clock, measuring 7 1/2" diameter, shown painted three different ways. Painted in the style on the top left: fully painted with a centre scene and painted numerals - $135, painted in the style on the right: natural wood, roman numerals, and the painted scene in the centre - $110, and painted in the 3rd style, with just the dogs in the centre against the natural wood, with roman numerals - $85. A slightly different example of that style can be seen on the Artwork For Sale page, with Collie puppies.
Bookshelf Clock
Beardie Shelf Clock

Dorlin's Bookcase Sign
A number of years ago a friend started a small business selling dog books at shows. She wanted a sign for her booth, so she asked me to create a design and paint one for her. She is a long time breeder of Newfs (and is particularly fond of the Landseers) and has done carting with several of her dogs, and also breeds Cairn Terriers, so we wanted those things to be reflected in the design. She also had an aging tabby cat she asked me to include in the design as well. I'm proud to say she was VERY pleased with the final result and receives many compliments on it as it is displayed in her booth.

Hope Agility Painting
Bearded Collie - Acrylic painting on wood, a commissioned piece done as a wedding gift. The piece itself is actually an oak cabinet door I thought would make a wonderful surface to paint, complete with 'frame'!

Painted Ostrich Egg

Painted Ostrich Egg

Where Beardie puppies really come from?

Ok so it's not wood, but it didn't fit on any other page. This is a real ostrich egg, painted in acyrlics and featuring a Beardie pup 'hatching' out of the egg.

Painted ostrich egg #2
Another painted ostrich egg, a commission done for a client who saw a picture of the one above and wanted one for herself. This egg is a more typical size and shape for an ostrich egg being quite LARGE and more roundish (the one above is smaller and more oblong than average.)

painted denim jacket

Painted Denim Jacket

This was a personal piece, featuring one of my dearest dogs, Danni, airbrushed on a denim jacket.

Commissions are welcome for painted apparel. They are painted with acylics with a base coat and top coat of fabric medium which is then heat set to increase launderability. Items should be turned inside out and washed in cold water, then hung to dry.

Painted Tank Top

Another personal piece, this one featuring another of my dogs - Frankie.

Painting on white is much easier than on blue denim, because it takes many more layers of paint to cover the darker denim base (especially when trying to paint white fur!) Being a cotton t-shirt which of course is not going to be anywhere near as durable as denim, this design was intentionally kept looser and quicker. Again, like the jacket, this was painted primarily using an airbrush.

Just a few examples of apparel that can be painted on include denim jackets (anything other than the ultra dark colours,) white cotton t-shirts (long or short sleeved, or tank tops,) and sweatshirts. Inquiries about other items are welcome as well.
